In the fast-paced world of digital creation, having the right tools at your disposal can make all the difference. As we move into 2025, a variety of design tools have emerged that cater to different aspects of the creative process, from graphic design and video editing to web development and animation. Here are ten essential design tools that every digital creator should consider incorporating into their workflow in 2025.

1. Affinity Suite: Affordable All Inclusive Design Software

I am putting this tool first as I am personally making the switch to Affinity in 2025. After using Adobe for pretty much my whole career I have decided that their subscription model just isn’t the best offer in the market for my current workflow. After Effects is still my preferred choice for animtion, but all other tools I use have either free or much more affordable options. The 2024 release of the AI image genertaor and generative fill inside of Photoshop was a powerful extension, and if there is anything that will keep me stuck on an Adobe subscription it could be this feature alone, however Midjourney is a much better tool for standalone AI image generation. Affinity has professional software for vector work, photo editing, and publications for a one time payment of £67.99 for a single app. If Affinity manage to integrate a generative fill tool in 2025 then there will be no turning back for me.

2. Figma: Collaborative Design Made Easy

Figma has become a staple in the design community, especially for UI/UX designers. This cloud-based design platform facilitates real-time collaboration, allowing teams to work together seamlessly, regardless of their physical location. In 2024, Figma has integrated more powerful prototyping features, enabling designers to create interactive prototypes that mimic the final product more closely. The ability to gather instant feedback from stakeholders within the platform enhances the design workflow significantly. Additionally, Figma’s extensive library of plugins allows users to customize their experience and automate repetitive tasks.

Canva remains a go-to tool for designers who need to create visually appealing graphics quickly and without the steep learning curve associated with more complex software. In 2024, Canva has expanded its template library, offering a diverse range of designs suitable for social media posts, presentations, and marketing materials. The platform’s user-friendly interface makes it accessible to beginners while still offering advanced features for seasoned designers. With Canva’s new video editing capabilities, users can create engaging video content that complements their static designs, making it an all-in-one solution for many creators.

4. Blender: Powerful 3D Design

For those focused on 3D design, Blender has solidified its position as a powerful tool in the digital creator’s arsenal. This open-source software offers a comprehensive suite for 3D modeling, animation, and rendering.
